YOUR DECISION BRIEF
Useful when the quote leaves you with questions.
For homeowners comparing a proposed HVAC repair or replacement. Especially when the explanation, equipment selection, or written scope feels incomplete.
- 01
The recommendation, in context
Your observations and the contractor’s statements stay separate. A quoted statement is not a verified diagnosis.
- 02
The evidence still needed
See gaps in the supplied diagnostic explanation, sizing details, scope, warranties, and financing terms.
- 03
A better next conversation
Get specific questions to take back to the contractor and preliminary guidance about when another qualified opinion may help.
START WITH WHAT YOU HAVE
You don’t need all the answers.
Bring the written recommendation
The quote, scope, equipment details, and any test results already supplied. Record what you were told in your own words; mark anything you don’t know as unknown.
Keep the original evidence
The guided review can read supported proposal details after sign-in. Photo and scanned-PDF interpretation depends on service availability and your permission. Review and correct the extracted details against your original; unreadable details remain unknown. Uploads accept PDF, DOCX, TXT, JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or HEIF: up to four files, 8 MB each and 16 MB total. HEIC/HEIF still-image originals are supported; entering the key details without a file is also an option.
Put safety first
For gas odor, suspected carbon monoxide, fire, arcing, or flooding near electricity, move to safety and contact emergency services or your utility. Do not wait for a quote review or collect more evidence.
Clear expectations, before you start.
Is this an expert inspection or a diagnosis?
No. This version produces automated, preliminary guidance from the information you enter. No human expert review, site visit, equipment testing, local permit verification, or price appraisal is included.
What does it cost?
The sample report, Decision Library and preliminary check are free. Sign in for a first look at supported proposal details. Plus includes full proposal reviews and saved originals. Home organizes case and equipment records and does not include full proposal reviews. Check the membership page for current monthly prices, review limits, and renewal terms before starting.
Explore membership options →When will I receive a review?
The current flow generates a preliminary report after you submit the required information. It does not include a scheduled human response or emergency monitoring.
Will it tell me whether the price is fair?
It can flag missing scope and terms to clarify. It cannot establish a fair local price, guarantee savings, or confirm whether work is necessary. Compare clearly documented scopes and seek qualified on-site advice where needed.
Facing an HVAC decision?
A TECHNICIAN IS AT MY HOUSE RIGHT NOW
Before they leave, ask for three things.
If there is gas odor, suspected CO, fire, arcing, sewage exposure or another immediate danger, move to safety and seek appropriate emergency or qualified help. Do not delay for documents or photographs.
- The explanation: “What specifically failed, what testing supports that, and what is still uncertain?”
- The record: “Could I have the diagnostic invoice, written proposal and your test results or photos?”
- The alternatives: “Is repair suitable? What would each option solve, and what happens if I don't authorize replacement today?”
Other details worth keeping
- Technician-provided model and serial details; photograph a label only if safely accessible without opening equipment.
- Included work, exclusions, equipment and labor warranties, and financing paperwork if offered.
- Compatibility checks for reused connections and the startup records you will receive.
Ask the technician for inaccessible information. Never open energized equipment, handle refrigerant, test combustion or enter unsafe spaces. Missing documentation is a question to resolve, not evidence of misconduct.
Everyday language is enough. Tell us what happened. The personal review keeps your account evidence together; no recording service or human appointment is included.
